Eight Icelandic hotels that actually welcome kids under 10, with pools, family rooms and food served before 6pm — tested with a 4- and 7-year-old in tow.
Reykjavik and around
Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Natura ($260) has a small geothermal pool, a kids' menu and is walkable to the domestic airport playground. Fosshotel Reykjavik ($240) does interconnecting rooms and is next to a Bonus supermarket for snack raids. In Kopavogur, the Courtyard by Marriott ($200) is 400m from Salalaug — the best family pool in the capital area, with three slides and a heated toddler section for $8 entry.
Farther afield
Hotel Husafell ($420) has a kids' pool alongside the adult tubs and lends out sledges in winter. Fosshotel Myvatn ($240) is walking distance to the Nature Baths — kinder on toddler feet than the Blue Lagoon. Icelandair Vik ($220) has family suites and the black beach 5 minutes away, but keep hands held: the sneaker waves are lethal, not a marketing line.
